The James Donaldson Publishing Group Songwriter’s Contest

I’m thrilled to announce that two of my songs were selected as winners of the 2013 James Donaldson Publishing Group Songwriter’s Contest! I’m very honored and humbled to have been chosen for two of the three top winning spots in this competition, amongst hundreds of submissions by many talented songwriters (from all over the world!) I am extremely appreciative to everyone involved in the decision-making process, and would like to extend my congratulations also to the other artists and songs selected.

Here’s what James Donaldson had to say about the songs I submitted:

Joy Mover – Home Sweet Home
Joy Mover has created the quintessential soundtrack for a movie telling a story of love.  Easy listening, consistent in its lyrics, it effortlessly floats the listener along with no pivotal moments as she even allows the bridge to provide a soft transition into a familiar finish.  Joy knew what she wanted and accomplished it flawlessly.

Joy Mover – Only The Wind
We debated whether to allow a songwriter to win twice and at the end of the day we decided that it’s all about the music.  Joy Mover can be very proud of her accomplishments and her second submission deserves its place in the winner’s circle.  A very danceable beat with the simplest of lyrics combining to make the end product greater than the sum of its parts.  Is it reggae or is it pop?  You be the judge or don’t bother and just let the playful Wind tell you.

“Home Sweet Home” and “Only The Wind” are available on my self-titled album. Pick up a copy today from my store!
