Gaining ‘Insight’ During 9/11 Anniversary

Posted 05 Sep 2016 in News, Uncategorized

The Joy Mover team is excited to announce that the Women of Substance Radio & Podcast station will be debuting New Release ‘Never Fit In’ + adding it into regular rotation as of Monday  September 5, 2016. [Click here to purchase]

In addition, in honor of the 15th Anniversary of September 11, the station will be hosting a ‘Remember 9/11 Series’ and will be featuring the title track of Joy’s upcoming album release, ‘Insight.’

The song asks listeners to look deeper inside themselves, reflecting on the world around them, as well as how they fit into the bigger picture. The 3rd verse addresses the horrific attacks on the Twin Towers directly:

Suicide bombers… the PLO…
Al Qaeda, Bin Laden…Where did he go?
Twin Towers burnin.. We got to fight…
Gonna blow the whole world up need some insight

To mark this great honor, fans will be able to purchase ‘Insight,’ the digital single, on September 9, 2016, directly from Joy’s Bandcamp page. Much like “Martin Said”, these new insightful tracks provide more flavorful tastes of what’s to come…

And, if that’s not enough to curb your appetite until the release of the entire album, you can purchase Joy’s current EP, Sweets: 100% Ear Candy exclusively on Bandcamp. Click here to listen.

The inspiration behind ‘Martin Said’

Posted 29 Jan 2016 in News

Just thought I’d share this archived post back from 2012 as a backdrop for what inspired me to write ‘Martin Said’ as follows…

Joy Mover /Facebook/December 19, 2012:

After the 1st of the many subsequent violent acts to follow, I began writing a song based on that Dr. King quote. “The time is always right to do what’s right” After the Feingold legislation’s ban on assault weapons expired, these senseless assaults on innocent citizens have become a standard part of American life. Maybe I need to go finish that song now… I took it out of the piano bench yesterday”

‘Martin Said’

Posted 19 Jan 2016 in News

In recognition of MLK Day 2016 and the relevance of a song I have written in his honor called ‘Martin Said’, I am releasing this song today on January 18th. It was produced and arranged by Vinnie Zummo who is best known for his 7 year stint as lead guitarist with Joe Jackson’s Band. This is the first single of the 8 song collection to be released individually throughout this coming year and then as an entire LP when all is said and done to be called ‘Insight’.

“That old law about ‘an eye for an eye’ leaves everybody blind. The time is always right to do what’s right.”
– Martin Luther King, Jr.

Lyrics:

Verse 1:

Oh the time is always right to do what’s right, Martin said
In the morning, afternoon all through the night
When the whims of fate and fortune
Sail you right on down the river
And the dreams you feed on,
Lives you lead on
Taking from the givers
And the time is always right to do what’s right, Martin said
Yes the time is always right to do what is right

Tell everybody to hold on tight
Tell everybody
It’s a wild ride
So hold on tight
Hold on tight

For the change
Need to change
If we change
When we change ourselves
We sustain the world
One person at a time
Can change
We can change
If we change
When we change ourselves
We can heal the world

Verse 2:

And the time it must be now to do what’s right
From the east to the west to the southern and northern lights
On a sea of change that rearranges
Yesterday’s tomorrows
Yet what still remains a dream’s refrain
Of happiness and sorrows
And the time is always right to do what’s right, Martin said
Yes, the time is always right to do what’s right

He said to tell everybody
An eye for an eye
Makes everybody blind
So hold on tight
Can’t see where we’re goin
Hold on tight

For the change
Need to change
If we change
When we change ourselves
We change the world

One person at a time
Can change
Rearrange
When we change
If we change ourselves
Maybe we’ll heal the world

Yes, we can change the world
Heal the world
Brothers and sisters
Boys and girls
If we love one another
We can heal the world
When we honor our mother – earth
And heal the world

We can change
Need to change
When we change
If we change
We change this world

And the time is always right to do what is right… Martin Said
Yes, the time is always right to do what is right
